bobatkins Posted August 19, 2006 Share Posted August 19, 2006 Since most cameras that take SD cards aren't very fast, the card speed will make little, if any, difference when shooting as long as you're using reasonable speed cards (25x, 40x etc). Even 12x cards are probably fast enough for most p&S type digicams. <p> There are a few higher end DSLRs that can actually take advantage of the fastest cards, but most consumer digicams and low end DSLRs can't. The Sandisk extreme III and Lexar 133x Pro series are about the fastest. <p> The <a href="http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/sandisk_extremeIV.html">Sandisk Extreme IV series</a> cards are twice as fast, but only available in CF format right now. For most users the main advantage of a faster card will be faster downloading of images to a PC when using a fast card reader. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
