FASTEST SD CARD

I would like to know what is the fastest read/write SD card out on the market.

Are manufacturers advertised claims true?

Since most cameras that take SD cards aren't very fast, the card speed will make little, if any, difference when shooting as long as you're using reasonable speed cards (25x, 40x etc). Even 12x cards are probably fast enough for most p&S type digicams.

There are a few higher end DSLRs that can actually take advantage of the fastest cards, but most consumer digicams and low end DSLRs can't. The Sandisk extreme III and Lexar 133x Pro series are about the fastest.

The <a href="http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/sandisk_extremeIV.html">Sandisk Extreme IV series</a> cards are twice as fast, but only available in CF format right now.

For most users the main advantage of a faster card will be faster downloading of images to a PC when using a fast card reader.
