non_pro
i am lighting a small budget fashion show, and want the photographers, (from major media outlets like vogue's style.com), to have the best light while keeping to the dramatic aesthetic of the designer. my background in lighting is very small, and my knowledge of the difference between tungsten and daylight lighting is small. i am renting theater lights, (3-6 inch fresnels to be exact), and plan on using a very light amber gel with possibly a diffusing gel on top of that to soften the light. my questions are: 1) is this acceptable? 2) are these lights usually tungsten as i suspect? 3) what is the best way to provide a white balance for the photographers before the show? do they take care of this themselves? 4) any advice to make the photographers job easier? thanks
EricM
Hey, thanks for the consideration. Definitely run your opal or 216 diffusion, but dont correct to daylight. The tungsten lamps are nice and warm for the audience, and anyone shooting with film cameras will have a flash. And anyone that cant white balance on their own, well, shouldnt be shooting. Have fun, I love fashion shows!
