F90x/N90s current drawn - meter off and meter on

I have secondhand F90x with which I'm well pleased. I'd like to know if there

is much harm leaving the power on while wandering around with the camera apart

from the risk of releasing the shutter in error. Has anyone measured the

current with power on and meter off and also with power on and meter on? I'd do

it myself but find it hard to make the needed electrical connections.

Almost ten years ago I measured current draw of Nikon F601 (F6006 is US). With power on but meter off, the current draw was tiny, like a few mA. With meter on, however, it became much higher, something like 200-300 mA. Although the values would not be identical to those of F90x, they should be very comparable.

Just for the record in case anyone is interested, I did manage to measure the current.

With four freshly charged NiMH cells:

Switched off: less than 2 microamps.

Switched on but meter inactive: 36 microamps.

Meter active: 150 milliamps (viewfinder also illuminated).

Meter active and top LCD backlight on: 190 milliamps.

So the conclusion is that since 36 microamps is very small there is no need to switch off in a hurry.
