cate
I have a question about the use of D series lens for the F65 camera. The F65 manual say that we have to lock the apparute ring on the D series lens to it's minimum. is it means that we can only use the D series lens start from minimum apparture? example, if i use a AF 50mm f/1.8 D for my F65, the minimum apparture is f/22. So, i have to locked my apparture to f/22. is it means that i can't use the lens at f/1.8?
hkbmac
On most Nikon cameras (I have not used the 65) you lock the lens at the smallest fstop when the camera is in P or S mode only.
scott_blair1
Just do what the manual says. Then TRY IT OUT
efusco
You use the full range of apertures available by means of the dial on the body...look at the LCD panel to see the aperture change.
jim schwaiger
I have the N65 and both a D and a non-D lens. You lock the aperture ring to the smallest setting and then control the actual aperture with the controls (or let the camera pick it for you). In other words, the ring doesn't have to physically rotate for the camera to change apertures.
cate
hi all, thanks alot for your answer. but i still wandering if i can set the appature to f/1.8 or not (by using the dail at camera body)??
jim_gifford
Yes, you can do so, even with the aperture ring locked at minimim aperture.
maxz
Yes, you can set the aperture to f/1.8 using the dial on the body. Newer consumer Nikons have removed the mechanical coupling that enable you to use the aperture ring on the lens to set the aperture. To let the camera body set the aperture electically the lens must have its smallest aperture set. Also on many lenses there is a small lock knob or switch that prevents one from accidentally moving the aperture ring when handling the camera.
