F100: Won't Rewind

I'm an amateur photographer and I am new to the Nikon system. I have

just purchased a used F100 body (Bel Air Cameras, Los Angeles) and

today I ran my first roll of film through the camera. Everything went

fine but I am now unable to rewind the film.

 

The batteries have plenty of power (Duracell Ultra, AA 1.5V). When I

press the two buttons to rewind, I can hear a feint electrical noise

from inside the body but nothing happens. I'd appreciate some advice

if anyone has overcome such problems before.

try swapping the batteries for a new set... you never know. If that doesn't work, it sounds like it is time for a trip back to the store.

Probably a long shot, but here goes: I am surprised by how 'long' you have to hold those two buttons down before something happens. It's about one full second (presumably so you don't do it accidentally).
