luis_marco_de_sebastian
hi, just bought a new f100 today from a reputable retailer. Thing is that when once at home i opened the camera i found that it still has the so well known old plastic rewind fork, (two triangularly-shaped prongs), instead of the new one. I know that nikon will change this for free but i wonder if anyone knows when did nikon stop manufacturing the f100 with the old rewind fork so as to maybe take it to the store and ask for a freshly manufactured camera, or just to nikon to have it changed. Thanks a lot.
hal_bissinger
This is the first time I am hearing about a "rewind fork" problem in the F100. Please elaborate. You say it is well known?
ShunCheung
This topic was just discussed in this thread a few days ago.
Again, I bought my F100 in January, 2000, about a year after that model was first introduced, and mine has the new metal review fork and serial number US20768xx. Therefore, I would imagine that only the early samples manufactured in 1999 have the old plastic fork.
luis_marco_de_sebastian
I have asked Nikon for a manufacture date but my camera s.n. is B 2253326...if the numbers are the same without taking into consideration if you buy in Europe like me or in the USA or any other place my camera should be older than yours and still has the old fork...really don't know if they use the same serial numbers for all the production cameras. hopefully nikon will tell me tomorrow and replace the rewind fork for free but i don´t understand how a retailer can sel such an earlier model nowadays... that'a besides me and without letting ya know about the rewind problem...¿? luis_marco_de_sebastian
Sorry i was meaning my camera should be newer, not older.
scott_carlsson
"new metal review fork" That's a new one for me, since I bought mine in 2001 and it's plastic. Honestly, I think you're mistaken, it's still plastic, just a different shape than the early release of the camera. The early cameras had a sort of triangular shaped fork whereas the successive cameras have longer straight flat tipped forks. Take a look at Ken Rockwell's site for info on this.
