george_shihanian
Hi all. I recently traded up from my trusty E-10 to the new E-410. I own an F- 40 flash. Olympus's website only lists the F-36 and the F-50 as being compatible with the E-410. I assume that is only because the F-40 is discontinued. There are no FAQs yet for the E-410, nor is there any info on the F-40. My question is- am I correct in assuming that the F-40 is fully compatible with the E-410 and there won't be a problem? Thanks. GerrySiegel
Try it of course. But this link suggests that you MAY not get the full features you are used to and may want to upgrade to the FL 36 or FL50. (Sorry, friend, but don't shoot the messenger:-))GS... See Wrotniak review of E flashes: http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/oly-e/flash.html
george_shihanian
Thanks for the link, Gerry. Odd that it didn't show up in my Google search. Looks like I may need to use the camera in "Manual" mode with the FL 40. Bummer. Guess I'll just sell the FL40 and get the FL36 to be able to use it in TTL AUTO. Anyone here looking for an FL 40? skip_williams
The FL40 works fine in auto or manual, but you need the Fl36 or Fl50 to get full TTL and HSS modes. Skip
baldedk
Contact olympus and ask them if the flash could be used. the flash voltage could damage your camera. The people at olympus will be more then willing to answer this question. If you're going to replace it go with the fl-
