Aoresteen
On a whim, I just bought a dead Canon EOS Rebel S (film) for the outrageous sum of $10 with the 35-105mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. I bought a new battery for it and it and my gosh, works! It has a 24exp roll of fim in it, 9 frames remaining. It is also know as the EOS Rebel 1000F in Japan. It came with the filthiest genuine Canon EOS camera strap I have ever seen :) ! The eyecup is missing. Looking at eBay & Amazon listings for Canon EOS eycups I can't find the Rebel S or 1000F listed. What is the correct eyecup for the EOS Rebel S? This is my fist Canon camera ever so I don't know a lot about them. I am an Olympus OM & E-5 guy. Thanks! John Seaman
Canon eyecups all seem very similar.
Aoresteen
Canon eyecups all seem very similar. Actually they are not. There are at least 5 different ones. After spending 30 minutes on the phone with Canon support, they tell me the the Canon Eye Cup EF 8171A001 will fit the EOS Rebel S. I bought one so when I get it it I'll post the results. I never expected this to be as complicated as it turns out to be.

JDMvW
The idea is that the eyecup helps prevent light leak into the camera. I never found its presence or absence to be a problem, but of course my Eyeball Mark I is pressed up against the viewfinder.
