Extinction of moderated forums?

I have recently noted a dearth of posts on archived forums, even as the transient unarchived forum proliferates. And the posts I tried to submit to an archived forum have ended up consigned to disappear on the unarchived forum.

 

<p>Is there a deliberate effort to reduce traffic on archived forums, or to kill them, or have the moderators just decided that there is no new thing under the sun? I see many unarchived discussions that, at least to my ignorant eye, seem like they might be useful to continue for more than 48 hours.

 

<p>This isn't a criticism as much as simple curiosity about what is going on. If I've inadvertently intruded into an ongoing political "situation" among the moderating staff, I apologize.

The last 2 posts I made to the archived forum were accepted so I don't think there is a 'conspiracy' to kill the archived forums.

 

I think people probably post to the unarchived forums because it's faster and easier to get answers.

There isn't a conspiracy to kill the Archived forum. It has become somewhat moribund because there are now quite a few other forums to which it is somewhat easier to gain access.
