todd frederick
A friend gave me a working Vivitar 45 meter today. I would like to carry this rather than my large Minolta digital meter. The vivitar had a dead 675 battery in it. I replaced the battery with a good 357 Energizer battery and it works fine but I'm not sure of the accurace. I looked at an on-line manual for the meter but it did not give the voltage specification. The meter reading I get seems Ok based on Sunny-16 but I'm not totally sure. Tomorrow I'll compare it with my Minolta meter, but, I'm wondering if anyone has any info on the bettery specifications for this meter. david_m
If it had a dead 675 in it , it's a good indication that it is the corect battery. I'd use a 675 hearing-aid cell, correct voltage but very short life compared to the original mercury batteries.
todd frederick
I checked and those 675 batteries, 1.4v, are available on-line 12 for $12.00. Good buy! I'll check the drug store. With a 357 it's about two stops high. Thanks for the good suggestion.
john_shriver
It will be innacurate with the 1.4v alkaline 675. Get the 675 hearing aid cells, dirt cheap at ANY drugstore. They are 1.35v. Just remember NOT to leave them in the meter when you put it away, they leak and corrode MUCH WORSE than the Mercury batteries did, and much sooner.
