It's a Cosina-built Pentax-K mount 35mm SLR that was produced around 1999-90. Also known as Cosina CT1EX. Hardly a classic in any definition, but it's a solid, no-frills PK camera. Probably takes LR44 batteries, but why not just take the camera to a battery store and check out which ones fit?

You're welcome! There is a lot of good glass available in the PK mount, so building a system is neither hard nor expensive. Buy prime lenses instead of cheap zooms. PK lenses will also work on the Pentax dSLRs in case you are going to upgrade to digital in the future. They even work with adapters on 1.6x crop Canon bodies.

Try out your camera, check if the meter is still perfectly accurate (or whether you need the compensate by changing the film speed) and enjoy your new camera.

Yes, of course, you usually find The Battery Store, right next to the Scotch Tape Store in

your local mall. (just kidding) Take your camera to a local camera store. They do still

stock lots of different kinds of batteries, and have cross-reference guides to battery type

by Camera model. Even Wal-Mart stocks lots of camera batteries, and has a cross-

reference guide.

"Battery Store" was short for "your local shop that has a wide selection of all kinds of batteries, i.e., a large hardware store or a big electronics retailer. Avoid small photo store as you will pay much more for a simple battery there than at a bigger non-specialist seller."

For larger quantities or expensive specialist batteries (lithium) I buy bulk on that internet auction site. Here is a cross reference guide for battery numbers.

 • 1 year later...

"is there such a thing? the only 'battery stores' I have found have sold automobile batteries."

There's a place called "Battery Warehouse" in Frederick, Maryland that specialises in all sorts of batteries and is located in a really cute and unusual part of the city. I bought a lead-acid camcorder battery there once in 1989 or'90, I think. Highly recommended.
