ken_davis1
Sorry, yes. I knew Erwin a little from his visits to The Leica Fellowship Weekends in the UK. We all know how knowledgeable he was and he was a really lovely man.
Rick_van_Nooij
That is sad news. Is there anywhere we can send a note of condolence to his family? You can on this Dutch memorial page. Choose the green button with "woorden" on it if you wish to type a message. The family has chosen to keep all the messages private Memori Erwin Puts
Gus Lazzari
It's always so sad when a true icon of the Leica community passes. He truly was the 'Gold Standard' in the Leica testing world. My condolences to the family and for those left behind... Good bye my friend...
Robin Smith
Yes, indeed. I have his Leica lens book from the 1990s. He was one of the few during serious lens analysis at the end of the film era, Robin Smith
Niels - NHSN
As I wrote on another internet site: When I started my interest in Leica in the late 90’s, his site was one of the few on the net where you could find detailed information on the subject of Leica and I referred to it frequently to develop my knowledge - he was generously making a lot of his hard work freely available and he even patiently replied to some of my stupid beginner questions. I didn’t know him personally but will miss his presence in the Leica community. RIP Erwin Niels
steve_bellayr
Very sad. I read all his books, even if I did not understand all the science.
christopher_a._junker1
John Morris, a fellow Leica enthusiast gave me a copy of Puts Hove book on Leica lenses. A short course in optics would have helped, but his explanations on the parameters of design gave great insight into the Leica lens world. A gigantic contributor to Leica enthusiasts, he truly will be remembered, but missed.
