joshroot
Partnering with Willis of North America, Photo.Net has offered our subscribing members access to discounted equipment and liability insurance since 2007. We are pleased to announce this benefit has been expanded to also include the additional coverage of Errors and Omissions insurance. Photo.net and Willis North America have collaborated to provide our members with coverage for what are the most common issues that would be covered by Errors and Omissions insurance. These new coverages have been included at no additional cost to our members.
Your general liability policy will cover you when you are responsible for another person getting injured or you damage someone elses property. Those general liability policies exclude every other "error" situation that does not involve bodily injury or property damage. This includes any other error you could make or anything you omit or forget. There are a wide range of instances that can happen to you that would not be covered by liability insurance and cause you out of pocket expense to resolve it.
Here are a few examples of situations where E&O coverage would help you...

Leaving your lens cap on during an important moment.

You had the name of the church but your GPS navigated you to the wrong address and missed the wedding.

You failed to notice your camera was not recording images because you forgot to insert a memory card.

Your client demands you pay for restaging a portion of the wedding, including air transportation and lodging for the bridal party, clothing rental, hair and makeup, venue fees for the day, officiants fees, etc.

Your camera settings are wrong, resulting in major exposure problems. The client alleges that a large portion of the images are of such poor quality that they cannot be used for any purpose.

These types of issues arise for every photographer at some point. As professionals, we always attempt to resolve these issues to meet our clients satisfaction, but sometimes the required "fix" is not within our budget. For those that participate in our insurance benefit, now we know some of those problems can be resolved through their insurance carrier.
We hope none of these scenarios ever happen to you. But as with everything in life, it pays to be prepared.
