gary_donnelly2
I have an Epson 7890 Stylus printer with only 400 pages printed. The yellow nozzle is clogged and no matter what I do the test pattern stays the same, 50% of the center bars on the test print are gone. I had an Epson tech guy take it apart and he blew some air bubbles out of it, but no luck. He said it looks like a bad print head. The cost of the head will be $1600.00 and $2600.00 with installation. It already cost me $275.00 for the first visit. I've had the printer for just over 2 years, so warranty is over. Other than this clogged yellow nozzle it's fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this myself? Has anyone had this problem? I paid $2400,00 for it and it doesn't make sense to spend more than that to fix it. Thanks!

thirteenthumbs
Use distilled water on the paper towel in place of windex in the above post link. Isopropyl alcohol works also but like windex dries out faster than the water.
If that does not solve it go to http://www.inksupply.com/ and get an empty funnel fill cartridge and a bottle of cleaning solution, fill and install the cleaning cartridge, purge that color and let it sit for a day or two. The empty cartridges are under the Epson link, the cleaning solution under accessories, and download purge.zip at http://www.inksupply.com/purging.cfm .
