EP-1 LCD-can I turn it off

<p>Try pressing the INFO button multiple times. That's typically how you do it with Olympus cameras. The first press may bring up the digital level and a second press completely turns the LCD off.</p>

<p>If that does not work, it may not be possible with an E-P1 since that's the only viewing method other than the optical finder you can buy for the 17mm, which I am assuming is the one you refer to having.</p>

<p><a name="29">How can I turn off the LCD monitor?</a></p>

<p>It may be desirable at times to turn off the Live View LCD. For example, photographers may wish to do so when composing shots using the optional VF-1 optical viewfinder. This is accomplished by setting the <strong>BACKLIT LCD</strong> function to <strong>OFF</strong>.<br>

For convenience, the BACKLIT LCD function can be assigned to the [<img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" />] button, which is located just above and to the left of the arrow key pad on the back of the camera. Once assigned, simply press the [<img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" />] button to turn off the LCD and press it again to turn it back on when you want to resume shooting using Live View.<br>

To assign the BACKLIT LCD function to the [<img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" />] button, do the following:</p>

<li>Press the [<strong>MENU</strong>] button. </li>

<li>Press the Down Arrow button repeatedly until <img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-620_Custom_Menu_Icon.bmp" alt="" height="14" /> (Custom Menu) is selected. </li>

<li>Press the Right Arrow button once to enter the Custom Menu. </li>

<li>Press the Down Arrow button to select <img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/_Custom_Menu_B_icon.bmp" alt="" height="14" /> <strong>BUTTON/DIAL</strong>, and then press the Right Arrow button. </li>

<li>Use the arrow pad to select the Custom Function menu item. It looks like this: <img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" /><strong>FUNCTION</strong> </li>

<li>Press the Right Arrow button to view the <img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" /> Function menu. Use the arrow pad to scroll down to <strong>BACKLIT LCD</strong> and select it. </li>

<li>Press [<img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-410_OK.JPG" alt="" height="14" />] to activate the selection, and then press [<strong>MENU</strong>] to exit the menu.</li>

<p><strong>Note:</strong> The functions of the [<strong>AEL/AFL</strong>] and the [<img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" />] buttons can be interchanged. To swap them:</p>

<li>Press the [<strong>MENU</strong>] button. </li>

<li>Press the Down Arrow button until <img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-620_Custom_Menu_Icon.bmp" alt="" height="14" /> is selected. </li>

<li>Next, press the Right Arrow button to enter the Custom Menu. </li>

<li>Press the Down Arrow button to select <img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/_Custom_Menu_B_icon.bmp" alt="" height="14" /> <strong>BUTTON/DIAL</strong>, and then press the Right Arrow button. </li>

<li>Use the arrow pad to select the function swap icon, which looks like this:<br /><img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-510_FnSwap_Button.jpg" alt="" height="22" /> </li>

<li>Press the Right Arrow button to enter the sub menu. Select <strong>ON</strong> to have AEL/AFL functions performed when [<img src="http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/faq_images/E-3_Fn_Button.jpg" alt="" height="14" />] is pressed, and vice-versa.</li>
