bobatkins
Very, Very gentle wiping with a Q-tip and solvent (alcohol, lighter fluid). Shutter blades are extremely thin so you can't use any pressure.

To get to the other side, lift the mirror.

It's cheaper to buy a new (used) camera than get it fixed professionally. I cleaned up an old EOS 630 this way many years ago.
John Seaman
There's a detailed explanation here:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Manage-Your-EOS-Cameras-Sticky-Shutter/

It includes removing the remains of the shutter bumper, which decays to a sticky mess and gets on the blades to cause the problem. If you don't do this it's likely to happen again.

paul_wheatland
Cheaper solution than fixing your existing camera, find a Canon Rebel T-2 film camera, they may not have this issue and if so, buy another. I bought one awhile back for the price of two large pizzas!
HenryUK
Cotton buds, strips of paper and lighter fuel with patience and a delicate touch works.

Have a look at this:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Manage-Your-EOS-Cameras-Sticky-Shutter/

I've done this with several EOS film cameras.

Henry
