EOS 500-N Flash Exposure Compensation with 380 EX

I use an EOS 50E (Elan II E) with a Speedlite 380EX

I plan to acquire an EOS 500-N (Rebel G) as backup. My question is:

whether there is a function button in the 500-N for Flash Exposure Compensation, and if not, how do I adjust flash exposure without affecting the ambient light exposure?

[i know for a fact that the 50E/Elan IIE has such a function button]

On the 500N, adjust the ISO rating to change flash exposure and the

set the exposure compensation (opposite the ISO adjustment) to bring

the ambient light exposure back to normal. Note that the exposure

compensation setting <I>does not</I> affect flash exposure.

I forgot to say that the above trick only works when the camera is

set to P mode.

EXPLANATION: My Rebel G (500N), with EF 28-105 f3.5-4.5 lenses, in

low light ambient, set at P mode and Flash, always state shutter

speed 90 and apperture 4.0, with the zoom aat low end. When I adjust

the exposure compensation to + 1.5 f stop and refocus the previous

object, the camera still state apperture 4.0 and shutter speed 90; SO

the only thing that will change is the Flash power, and that is what

really happen. Thanks
