bernie moore
Is there a way to enhance old newspaper photos using Photoshop?
tom_mann1
The first obstacle you'll probably run into is minimizing the half-tone dot pattern. The technique for doing this is called "de-screening". I summarized some of the options in my post of Jan 13th, 2012 (~5:54 AM) in the thread, http://www.photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/00ZrZ5.

There are also likely to be problems in areas such as contrast and color, but, after descreening, these can be dealt with in the same way as you would with any image.

Tom M
