jwink3101
This is more of a question and not a problem. What is this new thing with requesting and email address with the 20 sec delay. Does the person get an email telling you they requested it. I havnt been on photo.net for about a week so this may have been announced but I didnt see it. aappelphotography
Did not see it beeing announced either, but i guess it is to "block" search machines that crawl through pages grabbing all e-mail addresses the can get, so that you can get a nice heap of spamm. I think most of these search engines do NOT wait 20 seconds for a page, so the address is "safe".. But this is just a guess ;) Greetz, André. mottershead
Andre has the right answer. We don't let the person know that you've "requested" the address; however, we do log in the database that the address was retrieved. This also allows our software to go into panic mode if there are too may address requests in a short space of time and to stop handing out the addresses. cedarc
If I was an address harvester, I would open many (a ton) of different connections. Say I open 40, the effective delay is now half a second. This would work except for the fact that a single user can only retrieve 20 addresses per day. : )
