chris_eve
Just found this on FotoImpex's web-site http://www.fotoimpex.de/Home/films/e-127/e-127.html "Efke is the last remaining manufacturer for 127 format films. They handmake the little spools with brass nipples and the spooling is done manually by blind people in total darkness. Sometimes efke takes in private label orders thus some of their 127 films are hidden in different boxes such as Maco." Almost makes you want to go out and buy some !! h._p.
If it's true about the blind people, I think that's excellent. I only hope they pay them a fair rate for the job. Perhaps I WILL treat myself to a baby Rollei after all! :-)))
mfophotos
I have been buying the Efke 127 from JandC Photo and the stuff is great, and J&C's price is pretty good. Yeah, I'd love to find a baby Rollei or baby Yashica, too....
patric_dahl_n
Yes, it's a nice film. I've used it in my now sold Gray Baby Rolleiflex, and in my Sports Rolleiflex from 1938. Must have the shutter cleaned before I can use it again. Efke 50 was available in 127 too in the 80's and perhaps in the early 90's.
marco_vera1
but at $12 a roll it ain't much of a deal.. Just purchased some yesterday for the baby. Thought I would compare the results with the Macochrome.. Marco
pensacolaphoto
I just got a baby yashicamat and am looking for the right film to buyt. Maybe I will pick B&W film 127 size./
brian_schall
Look at Freestyle. Maco B&W is $5 and Maco chrome is $10. I have shot a couple of rolls of the B&W in my Yashica 44D. Too many cameras, too little time.
Aoresteen
See my Baby Rollei pages for more info on 127 film: http://www.oresteen.com/ROLLEI4X4.htm http://www.oresteen.com/ROLLEI4X4_use.htm Freestyle sells 127 film at a good price.
pensacolaphoto
I ordered 11 rolls of 127 EFKE B&W film from JandC Photo yesterday. They give discounts for 11-20 and then again for 21 and more rolls. Shipping is very reasonable with USPS priority; less than $5 for 11 rolls at $4.55 each. I also got a R1 lens hood on bee-bay yesterday. Now what's left is to find an inexpensive way to clean the screen on the Baby Yashicamat. It was too inexpensive for having a Maxwell screen. greg_cornish
> They handmake the little spools with brass nipples and the spooling is done manually by blind people in total darkness. If they are blind, why in the dark, to conserve electricity?
stwrtertbsratbs5
"If they are blind, why in the dark, to conserve electricity?" It's best to roll undeveloped film in the dark . . .
