andrew_gale
Hi. I have an F4 and im thinking of buying a lens (70-210 AF-D) that has a broken EE Servo Coupler. I also have N55s and N75s. One day I might try and get a D100. Will I be limited if i buy this lens? Will it not work on any of my cameras? I know the F4 will be fine, since it doesnt have a EE servo switch. The N55/75s do however. I can get a non broken one for fifteen bucks more and is it worth it? If i never use this coupler, I dont really care if its gone. Thanks, Galen
ShunCheung
Nikon SLR bodies without the aperture follower tab depend on the EE Servo Coupling Post to detect that the aperture ring is set to the minimum aperture. You will constantly get the fEE error on the N75 and D100 (or any Nikon SLR that cannot meter with lenses that have no CPU). I would pay that extra $15 for one that is not defective. Why buy someone else's problem?
vincent_peri
Any time a lens has a part broken, you should wonder what else might be broken that isn't immediately apparent. The lens could have been dropped. That can play havoc with lens alignment and other internal functions.
joseph_wisniewski
I'm with Shun and Vincent. You need that EE coupler. Personally, if it meant saving $100 or $200, I'd go down in the shop and cobble up a replacement one (done it before) but $15???
