ellis_vener_photography
The article is a review of a new exhibit at the Huntingdon in Los Angeles (Pasadena?) Californa, centered around suites of prints that E.W. made expressly for the Huntingdon in 1938 -1939. The article also contains a brief overview of his life and photographic accomplishments. I was also surprised to learn that Charis Weston is still alive (she is 89, maybe hanging out with artists is good for you!) and was able to make it to the opening.<P> I hope the show travels. Troll
This is the first time I've read that his photographs were shown at AIC when he was 17.

aaron_van_de_sande
Seeing his Oceano prints in person is a real joy. None of the reproductions I have seen in person come even close to the real thing.

michael_a._smith1
Paula and I have been in touch with Charis regarding aspects of our new Weston book. She is, all in all, not very well. She has difficuly seeing and without a stong magnifying aid it is difficult for her to see photographs or to read. Her mind is as sharp as ever, however. We feel privileged to know both Charis and Dody Thompson, who is writing an expanded version of her essay from the Malahat Review for our book. We believeDody's original essay is the best thing ever written about Edward Weston. She is in the final stages of revising and expanding it. Knowing Charis and Dody, we feel we are in some ways as close to Edward as we can be these days. They are really the last living close links to him. Michael A.
