Driving from NYC to San Diego on RT 40

Hey all, I'm driving across country in 4 weeks from NYC to San

Diego along route 40. I was wondering if anyone knew some

good places to photograph that arren't too far off the interstate,

as time is an issue. We plan on spending a lot more time in the

south west (around 9 or 10 days), around New Mexico, Arizona,

and Southern California. We don't have too much time to hit a lot

of sites, so we aren't sure yet wich national parks we should do.

Can anyone recommend some good photo sites that don't

require too much hiking to get there? We know we will be in

Joshua tree for a didgeridoo festival for 3 days (not included in

the 9 or 10 day time frame), so no need to mention that. We were

thinking about doing the Grand Canyon, Vermillion Cliffs, Death

Valley, Sedona, Yosemite.... I just need any recommendations

on scenic places anywhere along this route 40. Any help is

GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

For less than 7 bucks, you can find a current-year Road Atlas at Wal-mart and that will be a good thing to take along on your trip. A little research won't hurt you and you can learn about the U.S.A. (and Rte 40) at the same time.

Hernandez, New Mexico. I saw a picture once of that place as the moon was rising that blew me away!

If you get anywhere near Mesa Verde in SW Colorado you won't want to miss that. Also, Bryce Canyon national park is a real treat.
