Download of Canon Digital Photo Professional

I know this has been said before.........but everyone needs to back up everything............and then, back up the back ups. Pain in the ass I know, but.....

....anyhow, Canon, and others....all though i believe some do it this way, I certainly didn't dream this up on my own..........anyhow, Canon bugs you to register the purchase of your new cam. One would think, having done that, you would be entitled to at least get the software that came with the cam as a free download when you needed it.

If you have ANY of the Canon software that was bundled with ANY of the Canon DSLR cameras, the download of the latest DPP will install (with the exception of maybe the D30 and D60--I don't know if DPP runs their RAW at all).

Changes as follows (stolen off the download page!):

"Changes

1. Changes from Digital Photo Professional 2.0.3

1-1. EOS 30D was added as a supported model.

1-2. A tone curve assist function was added. Images specified by users will be analyzed, and based on the outcome, the RGB tone curve will be automatically corrected to produce optimal images.

1-3. A contact sheet printing function and detailed settings printing function were added.

1-4. In addition to the previous false color mitigation function, chrominance noise reduction and luminance noise (jaggy) reduction functions can be selected."

Just navigate to Digital EOS cameras, pick a model (10D in my case) and then select drivers/software on the next page. DPP will be down the page about 1/3 of the way.

That's what I spotted in the program. There is no balloon to explain what the button does, so I held my breath and clicked....cool!

The noise reduction works well so far, however I haven't tried it on a 1600 or 3200 ISO image yet.

DPP did work with my D30 images before, and it still does. :-)

You gotta admit DPP does great color. Even though the workflow still isn't optimized, you can't beat FREE. Look at Nikon Capture ;(

Now if only they'd follow RSP's example of sharpening and detail extraction.

<p>Hi, I hope I'm not too late to put this information up. I ran into the same problem too so I went searching and found it. Much thanks to Derek van Vliet. You can find the download link here===> http://neothoughts.com/2008/10/15/desperately-seeking-canon-digital-photo-professional-35/ Trust me, this is what you are looking for. What you have to download is a .rar file. Use this ==> http://www.tech-pro.net/downloadm.php?clickid=308&tpid=515 to extract the file and then delete the free trail if you wish.</p>

<p>Hi Kao Lee,<br>

I was browsing for the same answer to my lost DPP CD and you have provided the solution, thank you so much, it was very frustrating.<br>

It is however only for windows, I believe.<br>

Just to note that to run the .rar file you will need an extractor, try using bit zipper:<br>

It worked a treat.<br>

Thanks</p>

<p>this very helpful....I lost my disk for DPP and reinstalled Windows so no copy of it. I spoke with Canon and they wanted £17 just for a copy of the disc! Outrageous! Considering I have spend thousands of pounds on Canon gear in the last year they are taking the piss!<br>

This is what sorted me out. thanks to whoever posted this above</p>

<p>2min of searching google found me this<br>

<a rel="nofollow" href="http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/sdl/dpp-e.html" target="_blank">http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/sdl/dpp-e.html</a><br>

then search for a serial number for a 1d or 1ds and it is yours...</p>

<p>Thanks Don Hockenberry -- Needed the software at work and my disc was at home :( Much rather download from a fellow photographer then some anonymous RapidShare user :)<br>

Your link worked great, and with the update download from Canon, I have DPP v3.8 up and running here.</p>
