Domke F3X--partitions vs inserts

I currently have an old Domke satchel and a fairly new F2 (among numerous other

bags) but I really need something between the two Domkes in size. The F3X

looks to be the right size internally and I like that it has the pockets on

each end compared to the F6. I also like that it doesn't have a zipper and the

internal height would allow me to carry a 70-200/2.8 if needed.

The F3X uses adjustable partitions instead of the standard Domke inserts. How

do the partitions stack up compared to the inserts? Are the partitions

removable? Is it possible to use any of the Domke inserts in this bag?

In my very old F3X, the two 'tube' partitions at either end are fixed, but open at the bottom. There's also a square removable divider panel that velcros in between the tubes. Later versions might be a little different. You can always flatten the tubes and use an insert instead.
