msoskil
I'm staying at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown LA and want to go to the Dodger game tomorrow. A taxi will cost me about 10-12 bucks each way. There's got to be a bus or train or something that will be cheaper than that. It seems crazy that I'll spend 24 dollars going the 2 miles to the game and back to buy $6 bleacher seats. I don't have a car, obviously - I took a shuttle from LAX. I wouldn't mind walking, but I don't know how safe the areas around the stadium is and whether I'll have to cross any highways to get there. I'm agaist crossing major freeways on foot. Any Southern Californians out there that can help? Sorry if this is a bit OT; I'm not out here for photography but I did get a decent shot or 2 on Olvera Street today. Thanks! joe c.
Given your parameters, you might it find it best to catch a bus. You can find the best route and times from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority at www.mta.net or by telephone at 1-800-COMMUTE (266-6883). Directions to Dodger Stadium can be found here: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/la/ballpark/la_ballpark_directions.jsp Good luck. Go Dodgers! Jerry_
...and if you take your camera (and a camera bag) __ keep it in your lap. Do not put it under the seat and expect your camera to be there when you head home after the game. Be safe and keep your hands on your property. msoskil
Thanks. I'm only taking a small digital P&S so that I can keep it safe. The 2 bus looks promising from what I've found. Anyone know where exatly I can pick it up and where I should get off? I guess there's a stop not far from the Stadium on Sunset Blvd.
craig_gillette
Kind of a glutton for punishment - that much trouble for a Dodger game. It's walkable, to the extent that the distance is walkable but the neighborhood gets a little dicey. Besides the bus, which really may be a fairly simple ride, if you can get to downtown or more accurately, the transit center area near Olvera Street, there may be shuttles. I think they run some from Union Station and the Chinatown Gold Line stations.
wingedrabbit
Mass Transit? LA? You've gotta be kidding. That's what cars are for. Fellow Los Angelian
zaitona
You can catch either the 2 or the 4 from 4th & Broadway to Sunset & Elysian Park Avenue. Walk up Elysian Park (1/4 mile up hill) and you are there. Make sure you orient yourself so you can exit the same way. I wouldn't consider walking if it's an evening game, you won't be leaving until 10-11pm. During the day it's alright if it's not too hot. Don't forget exact change for the bus, $1.25.
