royall_berndt
Gentlemen, I have at long last acquired a Minolta XD-s. Mint! But I don't how to.set the diopter adjustment. How can I get instructions? I don't know what to look at in the finder.
SCL
Most diopter adjustment directions for most cameras suggest you look at a blank wall and adjust the diopter until the black lines in the center of the screen (which usually surround a microprism or split image focus assist) are distinct. I prefer to look at an image at optical infinity (50x the focal length of the attached lens), focus the lens and then adjust the diopter.
Ed_Ingold
When focusing, it is essential for your eye to be focused on the ground surface, not through it. If the screen doesn't have grid lines or other markings, then focus on the Fresnel rings. Adjust the diopter of the eyepiece until you can do that with your eye mostly relaxed.
