steve_larese1
Thinking about gifts and was curious, does anyone here use digital photo frames in their homes? Images taken with Nikons, of course ;)
Matt Laur
They work great with Nikon images, but can't do anything to improve Canon shots.

Actually, I've used a collection of three of those in slide-show mode on a table while pitching my meager wares... they're surprisingly effective. Around the house, they can seem a little bright. The better ones auto-adjust to the room light pretty well. The real trick is knocking the pass-through hole in your drywall so you can hide the power cable when you hang one up. I'm not really sold on them as a bit of room decor in the same way you'd use a normal framed print - they're a bit much... more showcase than pleasant art, per se.
ifti
I have a 32" digital frame in the waiting room. The pictures at that size are suddendly very attractive as the color and details jump out. The monitor is bright. It has music that I shut off so people watch if they want to/ It is quite and does not intrude. Some people love to watch and have nice comments about it.
triskelphotography
I got one last year for Christmas and I think it's great! I have it in the living room and don't keep it on all the time but turn it on occasionally. It is a great way to display my digital pics and they have a lot of options. It is a great gift- in fact we just got one for my dad.
will_daniel1
I bought a cheap one a couple of years ago and it was crap. I cropped images to fit exactly the screen dimensions, but no matter what I did, they were so poor I didn't want anyone to see them. I took it back to the store. Might be time to try a new one, and not be so cheap this time.
Will
azlatic
I found a great deal on them this year and bought six; taking care of three great grandmas, two sets of grandparents and us for Christmas. Image quality is great, once I cropped the images to fit the screen. I think a lot of people dump standard size shots in with no formatting and are disappointed with the quality and the fact that people's heads are chopped off and such. I also suspect that the technology has probably improved since Will tried one out a few years ago. Mine are 7" PanDigital and I found them on sale at Macy's for $75 plus (minus?) a $25 rebate (making final price 50 bucks). They are time-programmable, will play music and come with a remote. They have easel backs so they'll sit on end tables or whatever. This weekend will be spent customizing files for each one, and then formatting all the pix. Good music, warm drink and a blanket are all I need!
