I would like to check if anyone can advice on the differences between

Gitzo G340 & G1340.

As I understand, both of the specifications are the same, anything

changes in the built quality or design change?

I have the 340 with a 1315 colum. As far as I know, they are the sme. There might be some small difference, but nothing to write home about. My only concern about the 340 is that it might be a bit heavy for my use, which is only 35mm with normal lens lengths. That said, I never worry about stability and I always think about the final value of a photo before I go off on some long hike for a single shot.

The G-340 is an older version of the G-1340. The main difference is in the legs: the old version has plastic plugs, the new version has rubber tips covering metal spikes. There may be differences in the leg-angle stops - really old Gitzos have a button to pull, which can break of with rough handling. Finally, the assembly of the legs to the pivot: welded in the old version, glued in the new one.
