joseph_wei
My friend is going to sell a Minolta Rokkor-X MC 35mm lens. However, he claims that the lens is a f/3.5! I haven't seen the lens in person, so I was curious; I've never seen or heard of a 35mm f/3.5 Rokkor (an extensive search on the web turned up only f/2.8 and f/1.8 versions). Is this an "economy" lens that wasn't produced in great numbers, or is my friend mistaken? Thanks! Cheers, JW
miguel_rodriguez5
I have one with metal barrel, havenᄡt used it in ages. I am not sure if it's not a Hannimex lens, but I am almost certain it says Rokkor-X, will check next time I go to my parents' place and come back here to tell you. j_hopper
For lenses made just by Minolta, there were the 35/2.8's and 35/1.8's made from MC time through MD time. Then there were 35/2.8's and a 35/4 made in Auto Rokkor time. There were also 28/3.5's, 50/3.5's (macro) and 135/3.5's made from Auto Rokkor time through to MD time, ...see where this is going? ...Maybe your friend either mis-read or has an aftermarket lens? cmphoto1
There is a 28mm f3.5. Could that be it? chad
j_hopper
And just to beat this thing to death, there WAS a 35mm f3.5 Super Rokkor (not 'MC Rokkor-X') that Minolta made for its 1957-59 Super A system.
joseph_wei
Thanks for all the helpful information! I'm beginning to think that my friend mostly likely mis-read, because he specifically stated that it was a MC Minolta Rokkor-X 35mm lens. Maybe he has the 28mm! Or perhaps he confused 35mm with 3.5 - I'll just have to see the lens to make sure. Thanks again for all your help! Cheers, JW
