pat_cashin
I am trying to decide between the Dell 2408 and the DoubleSight DS-263N http://www.doublesight.com/prod_ds263n.htm I have read the anandtech thread, but am still undecided. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=2049206 The Dell has more input/Output options (can connect to a cable TV box, which maybe useful to me as I dont have an HDTV!) and can rotate, but the DS may be abetter panel for photo editing and color calibration. The DS is an IPS panel andthe Dell PVA Anyone used either or got any suggestions? My budget is $600-700, so the moreexpensive Eizo and Lacie are out for me until next year. Most of my work is shotwith Adobe RGB as that is what my agent wants most of the time, and I usuallyshoot RAW
joseph_wisniewski
My main editing monitors are Dell 30 inch S-IPS (3007WFP-HC, I think). I also have some 24 inch PVA Dells licking around (2407WFP-HC). Based on my own feelings about the extra comfort of the larger size, the ability to move more freely with the S-IPS (especially important when clients may be looking over your shoulder and seeing the display at angles) and annoying ghosting on the 24 inch PVA, my own leanings would be toward the 26 inch S-IPS. Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with Doublesight.
toddr
I have the Doublesight ds-263n and like it. Works well and it's a pleasure using it with a color-management-aware browser like Firefox 3. The width is nice for having two apps open and on-screen at the same time. (I do web development and photography). I haven't noticed any banding or any other issues related to the wide gamut. pat_cashin
Thanks, I am leaning towards the Doublesight S-IPS panel. Would be nice if it could rotate to portrait. If I pay proper attention to calibration then the wide gamut is OK with me.
toddr
I have my monitor on an Ergotron monitor arm so I can move or rotate it as needed. The rotation is done in my ATI display card utility.
I did see a review recently on the 2408 that showed it had great color accuracy. Not sure how that compares. FYI.
pat_cashin
I will go for the Doublesight, trying to find it in stock somewhere. Newegg out of stock. Also I have an older Monaco Xrite Pro calibration tool, anyone want to suggest a newer one?
