bill_carriger2
I see the reference frequently to LTM cameras and lenses. What, please, does LTM stand for. Thank you.

mark_amos
Sometimes you will see Leica Thread Mount lenses referred to also as screw mount.
jkelly04
You will also see Leica LTM cameras referred to as Barnacks, after their inventor.
alex_lofquist
Thread Mount=Screw Mount. This terminology probably took priority due to Leica users preferring "threading".
todd frederick
"Thread mount" and "screw mount" also means that the lens has threads which screw into the corresponding threads on the camera. I also think the term "thread" is fairly recent since the word "screw" has some negative American English connotations, but I'm more familiar to the term "screw mount." anthony_brookes5
Todd - I think you are correct but it may depend on the original translation from German. The oldest Leica leaflets in the UK seem to say screw.
anthony_brookes5
The earliest German leaflets in say the the lenses are schraubegewinde which means 'screwthread'. So I suppose both are correct
ant_nio_ferreira
By the way, most enlarger lenses use the same 39mm LTM.
