mark_loader
Hi, guys...just wanna pull on your coat-tails about this: some reviewers have suggested that jpegs from the D90 are not as sharp as those from the D80. So whaddya think? Do any of you apply any in-camera sharpening or contrast? Or do you prefer what the D90 does with them? Happy 4th of July...love from Downunder, Mark
aldrich
I think many are confused by noise. Especially at ISO 800 and up, the D80 has significantly more noise, IMHO. Many confuse noise with sharpness.

FWIW, I think our D90 handily defeats our D60, and both are newer image technology than the D80.

--Ryan
ShunCheung
Exactly who are these "some reviewers"?

In DPReview's D90 review, they have a bunch of JPEG samples comparing the D90 and D80 side by side: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond90/page26.asp
See their conclusion at the end of that page. The two seem to be very similar.
mark_loader
Don't have the reviews anymore, but in same dpreview see "Conclusions-cons" second point, and "Overall conclusion" third paragraph
