jennifer_stone1
I shoot with a D70 in RAW (NEF) format and custom optimize the image setting to Color Mode II (AdobeRGB). This is my problem that I hope someone can help me with: When I open the image in Nikon Capture (v. 4.3.2) it says the color mode is Ia. Is there another setting I need to change in the camera that I missed. I can always change the setting once I open it in Nikon Capture, but it would save me a step if I could get the setting right in camera. Thanks for any help. robert_martin5
RAW images do not have a color mode, you get the color mode when you process the image. You can output any available color mode from the RAW file. The setting you select (Color Mode II) will be used if the image is processed in the camera. The D70 can save a RAW plus JPG image and I believe if you do this and look at the JPG image it will be in Color Mode II. I use Photoshop to process my RAW images and I have the converter set to use Adobe RGB for RAW processing - this is a one time setting for the RAW converter in Photoshop, I don't know about the Nikon RAW processing software. alan_olander1664878205
If you're using Nikon Transfer (Nikon View) to transfer images from card to computer, you have to select "Imbed ICC color profile during transfer" in the "Transfer Options". Color mode II will show up then in your RAW file "shooting data".
dennisprice
Hi Jennifer. The D70 will default to a different Color Mode if is set on anything other than P, S, A, or M.
jennifer_stone1
Dennis, I think you solved my problem. I use 2 cameras when shooting and I just went back to compare images from the 2 cameras. One camera was set to auto and the other aperture priority. The A priority images kept the correct color mode, while the auto images were the wrong color mode. Thanks for all of your help!
