D50 and D70s Announced

Nikon finally announced the D50, D70s and two AFS-DX-G kit lenses:18-

55/3.5-5.6 and 55-200/4.5-5.6.<br><br>

 

D50 has 6MP, i-ttl, 1/500 synch, 420 pixel RGB matrix meter and 2.5%

spotmeter. Cost:899 with kit lens 18-55, availability:June. You may

D70s has improved auto focus, wider flash coverage, higher capacity

battery, larger LCD monitor and re-designed menus.

Just to confirm Umit's post, this is in fact an official *announcement* from Nikon and not merely a coerced acknowledgement like the one we saw recently when the purported manuals were "leaked" in PDF format.

 

It's been a fun few weeks. I can't wait for the onslaught of opinions, especially those from folks who haven't handled one yet.

Yeah tell me about it. These days I buy them abroad on travel or viat he net .. like B+H but many times cos of import duties (12.5%), I get new stuff off a guy in eBay or off Photo.net classifieds.

 

A roll of Velvia here cost $15US.

D70 classic body alone is $1050US, the kit lens alone is $400US. D70 kit is about $1400US.

The film guys are best hit, F100 at $2000US, F5 $3500US, F6 a little more. FM3A at $700US.
