errol young
I cannot get it to fire when its flash is up or the SD600 is mounted and on.
Is there something in the menu or is it broken?
Same thing in all modes. Except for no flash when the shutter fires but no flash.
Jerry_
You might wish to add a little more information. If you put the on-camera speedlight up, and have the camera in 'S' mode, with a shutter speed of 1/15 second...and with a memory card in the camera (and a lens on--with it focused on something) ... the flash should pop. ISO at 200 or 400 for a start, too.

If the speedlight does not fire, you may have to send your D3100 in for a check-up under the warranty.

errol young
thanks for the response.
It does not matter which mode. If the flash is up or one is mounted and on, the camera will not shoot.
Other than that the camera works fine.
I think I need to take it in.
