ross nolly
I was just wondering if anybody had any experience using the Sigma 24mm F1.8 EX DG ASPHERICAL MACRO on a D300. I'm primarily looking to use it as a low light/general purpose documentary/reportage "people" prime lens. I seem only to find many conflicting reports on this lens. At the moment I am using a Nikkor 12-24 f4 as a a general purpose lens for magazine work. For personal projects I prefer to use the 35mm (film equivalent) focal length. I have used the 24mm f2.8AFD (on the D200) and was dissapointed with its sharpness, & quickly sold it, one reason why I bought the zoom. I have used the 24mm f2.8 AIS & found it better. At the moment I'm using a Nikkor 20mm AFD, but find it frustrating because it is a neither here nor there focal length for me. Not a 24mm or 35mm (my favourite focal lengths) Also, I have found the 20mm to be too soft wide open, but great by about f4 or 5.6, which defeats the purpose as I may have well used the 12-24mm anyway! A new Nikon 24mm AFS lens would be great...... Also, the new 14-24mm is not a consideration at the moment. So any info on the Sigma 24mm F1.8 EX DG ASPHERICAL MACRO would be much appreciated.
