d100's fastest compact flash card.

  1. Hi All.

I've been googling to try and find out which is the fastest speed card my D100 can use. I've found some cheap Sandisk cards that do 15 MB per
sec, and some at 3 times the price that do upto 40 MB per sec. Is the card the bottleneck or is it in the camera? What is the max speed I can
    use?

    Regards, Nick.

Your D100 is the bottleneck. There is no point to buy fast cards for that camera.

  3. The writing speed of the D100 is so low, that a fast card won't bring any advantages. On my D300 I have a Sandisk ll disk and that doesn't slow the cam down, only after a burst it takes more time to have an empty buffer.

  4. Yes but IMHO you should get a faster one because you will more than likley want upgrade your camera before long, then the faster card will come in handy.

  5. If you use a card reader a faster card should let you download the pictures to your computer faster too.

  6. The only way to speed up the D100 is to shoot JPEGs. With RAW the buffer can only hold 3 shots and write times to the CF card are slow. It was one of the biggest problems with the D100.
