brucecahn
The Cheim Reid Gallery in Chelsea. Is showing color prints by William Eggleston. This is of particular interest to me because I have not understood his work, but never seen the original prints. At their best they are very good. The guy is a colorist. At their worst they are a little boring. There was a little room of b&w Diane Arbus prints in the same gallery. These were quite a surprise, not being her usual pictures of people. Some of the prints were really gorgeous, a quality for which she was not known, and which I did not notice at her retrospective at the Met. Possibly these prints were made by someone else. The show is worth seeing.
BernardMiller
If you're in London, some of Eggleston's newer work is on display at the Victoria Miro Gallery. A good bit of it is interesting...a little more abstract than his regular thing.
