rayyeager
My current color workspace in CS4 is Adobe 1998. I want it that way for printing. How can I keep CS4 from converting an existing RGB file when I open one. I thought "preserve embedded profile" would keep it, but CS4 always converts the profile to Adobe. Thanks ... Ray.
colin_mattson1
Preserve Embedded Profile doesn't change a thing. sRGB files remain sRGB, Adobe RGB files remain Adobe RGB, and so forth. If that's how you've got Photoshop configured, it sounds like you just happen to be opening nothing but ARGB files.

bill_clark___minnetonka_mi
Just to let you know......

My RAW workspace is sRGB with Bridge.

My CS4 Workspace is sRGB

I transmit orders to the lab I use with sRGB.

RGB is great and you can work with it, your choice. Sometimes if everything isn't in sync colors can look drab/muted. May I stick my nose in to suggest you check with the inks and the paper to see what they can replicate? Perhaps try an image with RGB and another with sRGB.

My 2 cents.

patricklavoie
choose *convert to* instead of *keep embedded* or set all your software to the same color space.
