jack_franklin
I have just installed Painter 12 on a Mac running OS 10.7.2 and when I try to open the app I get a window
"Corel Painter 12 wants to make changes. Type in pass word." When I type in the password I get a window
"Error 20,Corel painter has encountered a problem. Please reinstall from original source."
I have reinstalled many times and only get the same 2 alerts. Can anyone help in this matter?

JF
Matt Laur
Not a Mac guy, but I am a Corel user. And I've found that's Corel's own user forums (corel.com) are the place to get the quickest answers from people who live and breath it all day long.
cabbiinc
The Corel sponsored forum for Painter is http://painterfactory.com/ if you can't find it on Corel's site.

bob_lazzarini
Jack,
Corel Painter used to be a great Mac app ... unfortunately Corel now pays way more attention to the Windows bunch.
1. Have you tried re-booting with the Shift key down to keep any Log-in items, etc. from launching, and seeing if Painter launches without the "Make Changes"? You might have added a piece of software that you've forgotten about (I do it all the time) which may be affecting Painter's launching.
2. You might also try re-booting and holding down the Option key, selecting the Emergency disc (?), then repair your hard drive with Disk Utility, and possibly even re-installing OSX10.7.2.
3. I gather that you've contacted Corel for help?
4. Those and possibly (re)-installing OSX10.6.8 are your only options that I know of.
5. BTW, if you really need to use Corel 12, there are software available to re-partition your hard drive. You can then install OSX 10.6.8 in one partition if you choose and use Corel from there.
FWIW, OSX 10.7.2 has a good number of quirks in and of itself and with other software. I'm hoping that 10.7.3 will provide the necessary fixes. Right now I holding onto software that states that it's definitely Lion compatible.
Cheers & Good Luck.
michael mccann
Thats the Keychain asking for a password to make changes. Usually leaving it blank and clicking OK or just clicking cancel opens the application right up.
jack_franklin
Michael, I wish that was the case.......... I have tried blank, using the password and just clicking OK,nothing works.
