johnsloan
I just recently bought a TLA 360 for my 645. I was using a Metz 45CL4until the reflector tube quit working and decided it was time to tryout the flash made specifically for the camera. I am a wedding andportrait photographer and thought it would be nice to use the flash inttl mode in the same fashion as I use my F-5 and SB 28. I use abracket and a tla 100 cord to get the flash off the camera and to keepit centered in verticle shooting situations. The problem I am runninginto is controlling the output of the flash. It seems to want tooverexpose everything quite a bit. I've been trying to figure outways to compensate for it, (for some reason the cord only has a 3 pinconnection not allowing me to + or - compensate from the flash) andhave come up with shooting in M mode (which I do 95% of the time) andusing the camera + - compensation. I was just wondering if anyone outthere can offer any advice concerning this problem. By the way, I didnot use ttl with the metz, everything was done manually and metered toget desired effects. Purpose for purchasing 360 was to speed thingsup and make my life a little easier. Thanks in advance for any input
william_yu
Having not used TLA 360 for a while, I vaguely remember that TTL flash compensation only works with Aperture Priority (or Speed Priority, I am not sure which one). Please check the camera and flash manuals, or put the flash on to the camera, with either AV or S, then try to see whether you can use flash compensation or not. steve_kim4
I used to have a tla-360. Contax does not offer 5 pin cords which does not allow the tla-360 to reconize the lens on the camera. You need to manually set the lens type on tla-360. I figure this would be a big problem if I am using a zoom lens, I don't currently have one. Therefoer I bought a Metz 54mz-4 instead. However, I like the results from the tla-360 than the metz personally. I think tla-360 had better contrast than the metz; that I prefer. Good luck. Regards.
