jessica_cohen
Hello. I have a beloved Contax T2 that has started producing unintentional vignetting/underexposure along the left of every negative...it seems that perhaps one of the shutter blades/leaves/I-don't-know is maybe not opening fully or is closing too soon. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm certain that it needs repair as soon as possible. Does anyone know of any reputable, decently-priced, professional repairs shops/centers in Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Beijing? I speak very little Mandarin, so a place with English speakers would be a huge help. Thank you!
david_lau3
Why do you want to bring it to these places for repair? The English speaking capability of Hong Kong is definitely better. I suggest you take it to the agent for Contax camera in Hong Kong as follows: UNIVERSAL OPTICAL INDUSTRIES LTD 14/FL.Piazza Industrial Building, 133 Hoi Bun Road,Kwun Tong, Kowloon, HONGKONG TEL (852) 2343 5151
willio
You might want to check out Guanlong Photographic Supplies in downtown Shanghai. They have a camera service center in the 2nd floor of the shop, which is located at the Nanjing West Road (a couple blocks from the street between the 2 Peace Hotel building), but the last time I check, the staffs there dont speak much english, so you might want to bring a chinese friend along. Good luck.
lucas_griego
If your in Hong Kong or make it here... give the following a try.. the guy does stellar service at a very good price. He is honest and he is who most of the pro's use here. If you do use him walking into his workshop/office is a bit like stepping back into 1950's Hong Kong - it's hard to describe but it's very unique. He also repairs violins and cellos and the like - he speaks a bit of English and of course speaks Cantonese. Again he is honest with good service. Saved me money several times. As well it's very convenient as it's only a 5 minute walk from the central MTR (HK subway) station. Mr. Lee Cho Tat Panda Camera - Repair Service Penthouse, Double Building, 22 Stanley Street, Hong Kong. chris_chow
I agree with Lucas. Mr. Lee is a very nice man but I am not sure if he will repair the T2 because the electronic spare parts may be a problem. But worth trying. The official Contax repair shop in Hong Kong is good but definitely ask for a quote first.
