byronlawrence
for high color contrasted images. (red and green, or yellow and blue,or some other similar color combinations), it seems that when theimages are compressed for the small preview/thumbnail images thatthere are lots of artifacts that seem to show up. it only bothers mebecause i always have to check the large version of an image to see ifthey are really there or not. Is there not a better compression thatcan be used to create these smaller images, or does it create to muchfluff data? it only seems to occur on specific images and even in PSit happens when I zoom out enough on a picture with these traits. somaybe it can't be helped? this is only a mild complaint (or whatever it can be classified as),and a weak one at that. but it is a curiousity to me as to how this isdone. boswell
If you followed the posting guidlines your images would not be compressed.
byronlawrence
you misinterpret the question. I am not just talking about compressed, for viewing.. I mean compressed for ratings sometimes, and more for the thumbnails etc. I follow the guidelines to the degree necessary, but they are guide lines .. not rules, and as long as I have 100 mb of storage, i can put one big picture if I want... besides the question isn't about my photos. the question refers to color contrast. not just plain images. most of mine don't even suffer. it is other poeples photos. orensztajn
Can you put a link to the photo in question if you have it in your folder ,please?
byronlawrence
i can only find two examples right now. http://www.photo.net/photo/3250380 in all but the large veiw have edges or artifact things in the blue or the only one in my portfolio http://www.photo.net/photo/3634304 there used to also be a photo that this occured to that had a yellow tulip against a blue sky and another with green grass against the blue sky. keep in mind I am not complaining about the quality or content of the photos. and in general all this is just a curiousity. also, it may just be my eyes, since blue is such an intense color. orensztajn
I see what you mean, I've never seen this before. But when we put our photos we do resize and then there is a thumbnail resize from PN above that. You should see the same thing in the windows thumbnail too or? When you resize a photo, do you use the bicubic option?
byronlawrence
for me I use the bicubic sharper to resize down, and viewed at 100% of the size this issue isn't an issue, it is just the PN thumbnail, and in my case zoomed out in PS (before I resize). I have never checked the windows thumbnails I usually don't use those.
