Completely new and clueless!

  1. Yes, I was trying to answer more generally.

    For one, there are many quality 35mm film cameras for very low prices. Less than the cost of a few rolls of film.

    If the OP decides that one would be better for the experiments, it seemed worth discussing.

    Also, as I noted, digital cameras still have shutter speeds and apertures.

    One could learn all about manual exposure and manual focus using a modern digital camera.

    Many cheaper models only allow for auto modes, but enough have manual modes.
    That would allow learning all about manual exposure and manual focus without wasting film.
    (Not that I am against wasting film.)
