comparison of EOS-50 & EOS-300

I bought the 300. Great camera. Does what I need. In auto

everything mode, I'd guess it is the more accurate camera. As I

improve and use more manual settings, I find it wanting in

convenience (though not features). eg separate shutter/aperture

thumbwheels, quick exposure compensation, etc. As of now, I wouldn't

trade the 300 for the 50 but if I had to do it again, I would get the

50E.

The 300 doesn't have flash exposure compensation on the body. The 50

does. While there are a lot of other features I would miss (I have

an Elan IIe (50E)), that one is the most important to me. The 300 is

a competent camera I'm sure, but the lack of control for things like

that concerns me. Some people would miss the ability to use full

time manual focusing, and I would miss the thumbwheel on the back.

I'd go with the 50 if you like control.
