Color and light in Istanbul

We are planning a two week trip to Turkey next month with most of the time spent in Istanbul. Instead of the typical tourist pictures, I'm hoping to find locations that emphasize the color and light which intrigued the Ottomans.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Visit the Topkapi Palace and the Rustem Pasha Mosque and you are in the centre of the Ottomans reign but the light you see around the Galata bridge early morning or at sunset. That light the Ottomans admired for more then hundred years during their repetitive and unsuccessful sieges of the city in the 14th and 15th century, before they ended up taking the city from the dying Byzantine Empire 29th of May 1453. Enjoy your stay.
