rick_janes
Will the "SMC Pentax 1:2 85mm 1:2.8-4 100mm" clip-on hood fit (and stay!) on an 85 2.2 Soft? OE hood was the PH-R49 but I've seen mention of that particular clip-on working also. Thanks for your help!
andrewg_ny
I would think so. It's my recollection that these hoods just grab the filter threads, similar to modern lens caps (pinch, not push-on). It is listed on Boz's page to fit. One possible issue would be whether it will stay on when lens is at its physical shortest when focus is at its extreme as the 85/2.2 soft appears to have relatively short extension. If you want to play it safe and don't mind the screw-on/storage nuisance, go with a metal screw-in, these plastic hoods seem a little fragile.

john_shriver
Yep, fits fine, stays on stably, doesn't vignette. Makes the ugly ducking lens look even more silly.
Of course, the whole point of this lens is all the aberrations and low contrast. A hood? Really?
But it sure is a cool lens!
