CHDK-Canon workflow

  1. I just recently picked up an A590is. Nice little camera. I decided to try CHDK, simply
for the live histogram and shooting RAW. The problem I've run into is the raw files,
as I've read, are 10 bit RAW files. The only utility I have come upon to use for a conversion
process is DNG4PS-2. My workflow uses Gimp 2.6 which can't process dng files, so I am
wondering if anyone else has dealt with the issue of using CHDK Raw files, and what workflow
process did/are you using and what suggestions you might be able to offer.
  2. I've used the UFRaw plugin for GIMP and it read the CHDK raw files from my Canon SD800.
  3. Not to hijack your thread, but does CHDK let you shoot raw+JPEG? I also use GIMP 2.6 and sometimes UFRaw, and I'm thinking about putting it on my wife's A570 IS, but would not want to lose the built-in JPEG's. Thanks.
  4. Yes, you can shoot RAW+JPEG.
