KB Camera has information on several versions of the Leica M Summilux lens here. According to KB, none of the pre-ASPH versions has the .7 meter close focus. Interestingly, the new Zeiss ZM 50mm f1.5 Sonnar has a minimum focus distance of .9 meter. Info on the Zeiss is <A href="http://www.zeiss.com/c12567a8003b58b9/Contents-Frame/efadab346a2cb77dc12571880041b10c

I've got the Leica Lens Book in front of me. There appears to be an error, with the closest focus being in CM, but the column heading says it's in mm. Anyhow, all the 50mm lenses are shown as either 70 or 100 (obviously this is in cm). The Summilux 50mm is shown as "70" (70cm, or 700mm). It has to refer to the last pre-ASPH Summilux, as the book was published before the ASPH came out.

My Summilux is the one just preceding--the penultimate pre-ASPH--and it goes to 1M.
